Road Safety Week 4-10 May 2026

Road Safety Week 2026

4–10 May 2026

Road Safety Week is a national campaign encouraging everyone to become a road safety hero—especially by looking out for people walking, biking, scootering, and travelling on our roads each day.

About Road Safety Week

An annual community event promoted by Brake and supported by communities, workplaces, schools, clubs, and organisations across New Zealand. It is an opportunity to raise awareness of road safety and recognise the impact road trauma has on individuals, whānau, and communities.

Get Involved

Anyone can take part by supporting local events, sharing safety messages, or running activities that help reduce harm on our roads.

Travelling with Tiaki – Road Safety Book

Travelling with Tiaki is a new road safety picture book for early childhood and school-aged children, helping tamariki learn everyday road safety skills in a fun and engaging way.

The Wairarapa Road Safety Council has donated copies in English and Te Reo Māori to libraries across the region so families can borrow and enjoy them locally.

If your school, kura, early learning centre, or community group would like to hold a Road Safety Day, get in touch—we may be able to help support your event.

You can also order your own copy online here:
