Part of Wairarapa Summer of Cycling
Back in the day, this ride was organised by a group of enthusiastic Wairarapa mountain bikers, including local cycling legend Brian Lambert.
These days Brian finds it more difficult to ride as he suffers from Parkinson’s. This event acknowledges Brian’s incredible contribution to Wairarapa cycling, and in turn raises money for Parkinson's patients in Wairarapa.
Private land has been opened up along on the stunning but rugged Wairarapa coastline especially for this trail ride.
Two courses are available, but it’s important to note that you will need to be a competent mountain bike rider to complete both these courses. The coast is exposed to extreme weather from the south or east. Significant sections of the trail do not have cell phone coverage. Some rivers may have washed out or present rough crossings, and you should be prepared to get your feet wet.
